Is the Canon EOS 30D camera body any good?

I need a good still camera to work along side the GL-2. Would this
be a good choice or what would you recommend... and what would
be the important lenses to purchase.

Yes it is good.

Get the 10-22mm, 17-55mm/2.8 IS, and the 70-300 IS USM.
