I have Pentax +istDS and am considering buying the new 10d because of
the new features. My only complaint about the DS has been that it
sometimes in dim light hesitates to focus and I miss the picture. Much
is said about how Nikon excels here. Has this been improved in the
10D? Reviews that I have read have not discussed this?
thanks,
Pete C

Go to www.pentaxworld.com for an answer, what lens are you using on the DS?
My 16-45mm F4 ED AL focuses fast and accurately on my K10D.

thanks,
If you're using the kit lens (18-55mm), that's why it's slowish to
focus. It's a kind of slow lens.

On the other end of the spectrum, I got the FA 50mm/1.4, which is a fast
lens, but sometimes slow to focus because the depth of field is so
narrow. The camera seems to hunt for anything to focus upon.

pentaxslr.com is telling me that the K10D can use the built-in flash for
focus-assist, which the *ist DS lacks. That should help.

Actually the DS does have focus assist using the flash.
